The awards are given to graduating female students who plan to continue college with a major in the field of mathematics or science.

The West Harris County Branch of the American Association of University Women supports this scholarship fund that awards $1500 to one female graduate from each of these three districts: Houston ISD, Alief ISD, and Spring Branch ISD. The awards are given to those girls who exemplify scholarship in their studies in mathematics and science. They must be planning to go to a four year college with a major in math or science. Presentation of the awards is the  highlight of the West Harris County June branch meeting/luncheon.

Scholarship funds are obtained through generous donations by members and fund raising events.
