Cornyn Reacts to Border Shooting Involving Texas DPS Agents
WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) today released this statement following reports of a shootout involving Texas Department of Public Safety agents along the Texas-Mexico border:
“Despite the repeated assurances of President Obama and Secretary Napolitano that our border is secure, today’s brazen attack on law enforcement provides further evidence for what Texans already know.
“Cartel-related violence along our border is real and escalating, and the Administration cannot continue to deny it when American lives – particularly those of our law enforcement – are directly in harm’s way.”
Senator Cornyn serves on the Finance, Judiciary, Armed Services and Budget Committees. He serves as the top Republican on the Judiciary Committee’s Immigration, Refugees and Border Security subcommittee. He served previously as Texas Attorney General, Texas Supreme Court Justice, and Bexar County District Judge.
