Endowment established in honor of local educator

HOUSTON — Family and friends of University of Houston-Clear Lake alumna and former Clear Creek Independent School District Superintendent Sandra Mossman gathered in May to celebrate the former educator during UH-Clear Lake’s “Another Great Day in CCISD: May 24, 2011 – Celebrating Sandra Mossman.” Associate Vice President for University Advancement Dion McInnis welcomed guests to the event before introducing university President William A. Staples.

“Dr. Sandra Mossman has been a visionary leader who leads by example while serving as a role model for current and future K–12 administrators,” said Staples, who referenced Mossman’s daily “Great Day” greeting, “We are delighted to say ‘It’s a Great Day at UH-Clear Lake’ as we gather to honor Dr. Sandra Mossman.”

Staples also announced the creation of the Dr. Sandra Mossman Endowed Fellowship in Educational Leadership, an endowment in Mossman’s honor for students in the university’s only doctoral program. A plaque will be posted in the university’s Bayou Building, Atrium II, and include names of recipients of the award.

“I am very honored to have this endowment established in my name,” said Mossman. “I owe much to the university.

“My two certifications in Mid-Management and also in Curriculum and Supervision at UH-Clear Lake were defining steps in my career that allowed me to attain all of my professional goals in education.”
