PATRONS TO TAKE A WHACK FOR A CHANCE TO WIN METRO MONEY

A giant gas pump piñata loaded with $5 METRO Money passes – that’s how the new METRO is celebrating the Sixth Annual National Dump the Pump Day, sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA).

WHO: George Greanias, METRO
president & CEO, board members,
community members and patrons

WHAT: METRO Celebrates Sixth Annual
National Dump the Pump Day

WHEN: Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 8 a.m.

WHERE: METRO Headquarters,
1900 Main (first floor lobby)

Greanias, along with METRO board members, community members and patrons will take a swing at the piñata. The 170-pound gas pump container will be stuffed with $5 METRO Money passes, as well as 50 pounds of candy.

METRO is encouraging drivers to break away from their vehicles for a day and choose public transit instead, saving money. How much? Use our online commute calculator to figure out your potential savings. The latest report from APTA shows that public transit users can save more than $10,000 a year.
