The Texas City Independent School District Board of Trustees on Tuesday voted unanimously to select Collier Construction as the construction manager at risk for the Block Middle School project.
The project includes tearing down and rebuilding of the academic wings of the former Texas City High School campus to create the new middle school. The construction project is expected to being after students are relocated to the new high school campus.
The school board voted to direct Superintendent Dr. Bob Brundrett to gather information on superintendent search firms. The board will solicit bids from the firms to conduct a search for Brundrett's replacement. Brundrett submitted his resignation on June 7, and will leave his position on June 30. News Release
The school board voted to develop a redistricting plan for the school’s representative districts through the Board Committee of the Whole as opposed to forming a citizens’ committee. The board committee will work with demographers to redraw district boundaries for each member district. The district will host public meetings to receive input on redistricting plan.
The school board voted to approve a proposal to create an integrated math-science center at Texas City High School for the 2011-2012 school year.
The school board voted to reappoint trustees Bryan Thompson and Melba Anderson to serve on the Foundation Board.
