Juneteenth events began in Galveston with a reading of the Emancipation Proclamation at Ashton Villa and a celebration of the Texas State Law making Juneteenth an official holiday, at Ashton Villa.

The Annual Juneteenth Jubilee Parade began at noon at 25th and Ball and continued to 41st and Ball for the Annual Annie Mae Charles Juneteenth Jubilee Celebration at Wright Cuney Park.

“Here it is, another beautiful June day in Galveston,” said Mayor Joe Jaworski in an interview with Juan Peña at Wright Cuney Park.  “I love seeing Galvestonians out to enjoy a parade.”
