The Santa Fe Independent School District Board of Trustees on Monday voted unanimously to approve a $326,450 expenditure for the purchase of two compressed natural gas-powered school buses.
The school board voted to accept a $91,431 grant from the Houston-Galveston Area Council for funding of the new bus purchases.
The school board voted to approve a change order reducing by $41,960 the contract amount for the Agircultural Event Center project. The contract is with Bass Construction.
The school board elected board officers, naming John Rothermel as board president, Billy Burns as vice president and Theresa Herzog as secretary.
The school board voted to approve a lease agreement with IKON Business Solutions for district-wide copier needs.

During the meeting the Rusty Norman was sworn in to Position 6 and Jason O’Brien to Position 7 on the board of trustees. Norman defeated John Wilson in May for the Position 6 seat, which had previously been held by Sandi Sauers. Jason O’Brien was unopposed for election to the Position 7 seat, which was held by Bruce Blankenship.
