Hitchcock ISD Board of Trustees

The Hitchcock Independent School District Board of Trustees on Tuesday voted 3-0-2, with Pat Turner and Tom Ivey abstaining, to direct the Joiner Partnership to develop plans for the new high school after receiving bids above the amount budgeted for the construction of the new school.

The district received a guaranteed maximum price of $13.7 million, above the district's $11 million fund designated for the new school.

The Joiner Partnership is to bring new plans back to the district in two months for re-bids of the project.

The school board voted unanimously to accept the terms of interim superintendent Lee Knapp's contract for the 2011-2012 school year.

The school board voted unanimously to form a committee of two board members, a community person and the district's business manager to consider the district's energy needs and make recommendations to the board.

The school board voted unanimously to not participate in the Coastal Alternative Program for 2011-2012 due to the cost effectiveness of the program.

The school board postponed action regarding the district's organizational chart. The item will be considered in July.

The school board tabled action on administrative procedures concerning grading guidelines. The item will be considered in July.

The school board voted 5-1, with Dianne James opposed, to grant a Level III Grievance for Dena Cline and offer her a one-year term contract for the 2011-2012 school year.

The school board voted unanimously to employ Shannon Fell under a probationary one-year contract.

The school board voted unanimously to employ Andrew Hubbell under a probationary one-year contract.

The school board voted unanimously to employ Leslie Hernandez under a probationary one-year contract.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. Trustee Ted Robinson, Jr. was absent. Agenda
