Microsoft Donates $300,000 in Software to HISD Foundation
Today at the opening of the new Microsoft Store in the Galleria, Microsoft Chief Operating Officer Kevin Turner presented a check to HISD Foundation President Tina Medlin in the amount of $300,000 in donated software. Ms. Medlin said, “The amount was based on online voting connected to the opening of the new store. We rallied our employees and the HISD community and in the end the online votes amounted to $300,000 in donated software. I want to personally thank everyone who voted.”
HISD Superintendent Terry Grier attended the check presentation. Dr. Grier said, “More than 80 percent of our children are considered to be disadvantaged. With this donation, Microsoft is providing our children with technological opportunities they might not otherwise have.”
