Texas A&M University at Galveston reports that the construction schedule for Pelican Island Bridge repair will be cancelled on Monday, July 4, and will resume on Tuesday at 6 p.m. per the normal schedule.
The bridge currently is closed to vehicular traffic from 6 pm to 9 pm and reopens to vehicular traffic from 9 pm to 9:30 pm. Closures will continue through the night as per the original schedule.
Bridge closure and access information beginning June 27 (Monday):
- 6 am to 6 pm, Monday through Thursday (OPEN to cars/trucks)
- 6 pm to 9:00 pm, Monday through Thursday (CLOSED to cars/trucks)
- 9 pm to 9:30 pm, Monday through Thursday (OPEN to cars/trucks)
- 9:30 pm to 12 am, Monday through Thursday (CLOSED to cars/trucks)
- 12 am to 12:30 am, Monday through Thursday (OPEN to cars/trucks)
- 12:30 am to 2:30 am, Monday through Thursday (CLOSED to cars/trucks)
- 2:30 am to 3 am, Monday through Thursday (OPEN for cars/trucks)
- 3:00 am to 6 am, Monday through Thursday (CLOSED for cars/trucks)
The bridge will be under normal operations from Friday through Monday.

Please note that emergency personnel will be stationed on the TAMUG campus during construction.
