Clear Creek ISD Board of Trustees
by Garrett Bryce
Tuesday, June 28, 2011

The Clear Creek Independent School District Board of Trustees on Monday voted 6-1, with Ken Baliker opposed, to approve a local policy regarding advertising and fund raising in the schools.

The policy implements a commercial advertising program in order to offset losses to the budget incurred by a reduction in state funding.

“This policy would permit the school district to sell advertising on the district’s electronic communication, web site, electronic newsletters, Veterans Memorial Stadium, and improve the bus advertising program,” Superintendent Dr. Greg Smith said.

The school board voted unanimously to award a $321,469 contract to Civil Contracts Construction, LLC for construction of a greenhouse at Clear Falls High School.

The school board voted unanimously to name Dana Morgan as director of career and technical education.  Morgan previously served the district as coordinator of Career and Technology Education.

The school board voted unanimously to name Robert Bayard as director of assessment and evaluation.  Bayard previously served the district as dean of instruction at Clear Springs High School.

The school board voted unanimously to accept a $30,000 grant from the State Energy Conservation Office.  The grant will fund lighting retrofits at Clear Brook High School to improve energy efficiency at the school.

The school board voted unanimously to award a $61,000 contract to Null-Lairson, PC for auditing services.  Null-Lairson has provided auditing services to the district for the past five years.  The new contract includes audit of the 2010-2011 budget and includes three renewal options.

The school board voted unanimously to award a contract to Wells Fargo for banking services.  Wells Fargo has provided banking services to the district since 2007.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote.  All members were present.  Agenda

During the meeting, the school board reviewed, but took no action regarding the status of the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 budgets for the district.

The board discussed various recommendations by the Citizens’ Finance Advisory Committee regarding cost saving actions to consider for the budget.
