HISD Board President Paula Harris talks to the 2010-2011 Principals of the Year and three recently named principals during her monthly television show.

Who: The July edition of HISD Board President Paula Harris' "Student Achievement Show" will feature the district’s efforts to ensure that there is an effective principal in every school, a core initiative of HISD’s Strategic Direction. Ms. Harris will talk to the 2010-2011 HISD Principals of the Year and several “new” principals who will be taking the lead at HISD schools in the fall. Joining Ms. Harris will be Kevin Hobbs, the HISD Assistant Superintendent of Professional Development, who will discuss the district’s efforts to recruit new principals and develop leaders from within.

What: Monthly HISD “Student Achievement Show” hosted by Board President Paula Harris

When: Throughout the month of July at www.houstonisd.org and on HISD-TV (Comcast channel 18 and AT&T U-verse channel 99) at the following dates and times.  

            Sunday; July 10, 17, 24 and 31 at 8:30 p.m.

            Wednesday; July 6, 13, 20, 27 at 8:30 p.m. 

Why: HISD Board President Paula Harris is committed to showcasing the academic achievements of HISD students and highlighting the many district wide initiatives that are aimed at boosting student achievement and preparing students for college and a career once they graduate from high school. An engineer at Schlumberger, Harris is particularly interested in getting students excited about math and science at an early age. Her “Student Achievement Show” airs monthly with a new topic and guests from HISD schools, including students, teachers, and principals.
