HCSO HOSTS BIKE RODEO TO PROMOTE BIKE SAFETY AMONG KIDS
HOUSTON, TX – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Community Services Bureau, in collaboration with the Harris County Hospital District (HCHD), will be hosting a “Bike Rodeo” at Finnegan Park in east Houston to promote bicycle safety among kids.
With more than 200 children expected, this is on track to be the HCSO’s largest Bike Rodeo yet.
The Bike Rodeo is an interactive program through which certified bicycle safety instructors teach kids how to ride their bicycles safely. They are taught about the importance of wearing a helmet and obeying all bicycle safety laws. The three-hour program includes classroom instruction followed by hands-on training on an obstacle course where the kids have to demonstrate how to safely maneuver through the course and proper starting and stopping techniques.
Additionally, the Hospital District has generously donated more than 200 helmets and backpacks that will be handed out to participants. Four lucky kids will ride away on news bikes, courtesy of the HCHD.
Participating children were registered through Finnegan Park and area schools.
