TAXI ACCIDENT CLAIMS THE LIVES OF TWO METROLIFT PATRONS
The METRO Police Department is assisting local authorities in the investigation of Friday’s fatal accident in the northbound lanes of U.S. 59 near Laura Koppe Road.
A taxi collided with a stalled tanker truck on the shoulder lane. The taxi passengers, a 56-year-old woman and an 84-year-old woman were METROLIft patrons. They were being transported home from dialysis treatment as part of METROLift contracted services with Yellow Cab/TexasTaxis.
“Our first thoughts are with the victims’ families during this very difficult time. The METROLift program is a close-knit community and we will have counselors available to assist our dispatchers and drivers as needed,” said METRO President & CEO George Greanias.
