“Chicago,” a sizzling musical of murder and seduction that turned Broadway on its ear, is now ready to "razzle dazzle" COM audiences with its pulse-racing story of a pair of sexy murderesses craving the celebrity spotlight in 1920s Chicago. Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly vie for star billing on death row, hoping the publicity will catapult them to fame, freedom and stardom! “Chicago” is being performed by the College of the Mainland Community Theatre through August 7. COM Board of Trustees hold monthly meeting

COM Board of Trustees will hold their monthly meeting Wednesday, July 27, at 12:30 p.m. in the Enrollment Center Board Room. The meeting is open to the public. For more information call 409-933-8271.

COM Fall Registration

College of the Mainland’s open registration for the fall semester begins Monday, July 18. Students may enroll online at or in person at the Admissions Office. The Admissions Office is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Mondays and Tuesdays, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesdays through Fridays.

The 16-week fall semester begins Aug. 27. COM also offers two eight-week sessions starting Aug. 29 and Oct. 24. For more information, call 409-938-1211 or visit the College’s website at

COM Process Technology Information Night

College of the Mainland Process Technology Program will host an information night Tuesday, August 2, at 5:30 p.m. in the Tech-Voc building room 1101. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss high paying careers in process technology and outstanding employment opportunities along the Texas Gulf Coast and elsewhere. With the petrochemical industry employing more than 50,000 operators in the next five years, graduates of COM’s PTEC program are receiving starting salaries of more than $60,000. Industry and college personnel will be on hand to answer questions and discuss what it takes to work in the petrochemical industry. For more information call 409-933-8536.

COM Blood drive with Regional Blood Center

COM is hosting a Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center blood drive on Wednesday, July 27 and Thursday, July 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Student Center. To schedule a time to donate, log on to and enter sponsor code 0989.
