GALVESTON: Eugene Louis Paysse age 85 of Galveston died Saturday, July 16, 2011 at his home in Galveston. Funeral services are 10:00 am Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Galveston. The family will receive visitors from 5:00pm until 8:00pm Friday at the funeral home with an Elk’s Memorial Service to be held at 6:30pm.
Born November 26, 1925 in Galveston, Texas to John Henry Paysse and Louise Walsh Paysse, Gene was the Executive Vice President of G and H Towing for 38 years retiring in 1985. He was a 1942 graduate of Ball High School after which he entered the U. S. Army serving his country honorably during WWII. After his military service, Gene went to school on the GI Bill at the University of Houston. Gene was a 57 year member of the B.P.O.E. # 126, the VFW Post 880, American Legion Post 20 and the Propeller Club. Mr. Paysse was an excellent musician. He loved the Trombone, playing during the big band days and also taught himself the piano. Mr. Paysse was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kopecky Paysse; grandson, Jonryan Paysse; sisters, Florence Hauser, Angelique Del Papa, Helen Pinte, Bernadette Paysse, Louise Roan and Lorraine Miller; brothers, John Paysse and Charles Paysse; survivors include daughter, Karen Rowe and husband Edward Rowe, Jr. of Conroe; son, Randall E. “Randy” Paysse and wife Beverly of Lake Jackson ; grandchildren, John Michael Moore of Portland, Oregon, Joshua Paysse Steding of Webster, Angela Steding of Austin, Edward Rowe, III of Waco, Benjamin Paysse and wife Brooke of Rosanky, Texas, Amanda Paysse of San Francisco, Sean McDonald of Lake Jackson and Tim McDonald and wife Ashley of Roseboro, N.C.; great grandchildren, Luke Ryan Paysse, Morgan Moore, Jaiden Rae Steding, Rylie McDonald and Kaylee McDonald; numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are John Michael Moore, Joshua Paysse Steding, Angela Steding, Edward Rowe, III, Benjamin Paysse and Amanda Paysse.
