Thursday, July 21, 2011

The Hitchcock Independent School District Board of Trustees on Tuesday voted unanimously to name Estelle Holmes as delegate and Monica Cantrell as alternate to the Texas Association of School Boards Delegate Assembly for 2011-2012.

The school board voted to schedule a workshop and public hearing for the district's tax rate on August 30, and a walk-through of the district's facilities by the board on September 10.

The school board discussed the preliminary budget for FY2012.

The school board voted to “opt out” of the split payment option for payment of property taxes.  Galveston County, which collects tax for the district, has implemented a split payment option.  The district will continue to collect its full taxes from property owners due to opting out of the program.

All items were approved.  All votes were unanimous.  Trustee Ted Robinson, Jr. was absent from the meeting.  Agenda

The school board will meet on Monday to conduct its "Team of Eight" training session.
