ACC Fire Inspector Training for Fire and Police Personnel
Alvin Community College Continuing Education Workforce Development is now offering a three-course fire inspector certificate program. Fire inspectors are responsible for inspecting businesses and other places of assembly each year to ensure that they meet state and local fire codes.
According to the US Department of Labor, career opportunities for fire inspectors and investigators are expected to grow by nine percent by 2018, as cities grow. A fire inspector’s annual average yearly salary is $53,030.
The ACC Fire Inspector Program consists of 196 hours of training and students who successfully complete the program will be eligible to take the Texas Commission on Fire Protection Inspector exam.
“ACC is excited to offer this certification which includes classroom training approved by Texas Commission on Fire Protection and State Firemen’s and Fire Marshal’s Association” says Chief Training Officer Billy Gerber.
Registration for this program starts August 1 and classes begin September 12. Classes will meet on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6 - 10 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
The first course Fire Inspector I will run September 12 through October 15 and costs $259(in-district) and $279 (out-of-district). Fire Inspector II will run October 17 through November 5 and costs $209 (in-district) and $229 (out-of-district). The last class, Plan Examiner I will run November 7 through November 19 and costs $159 (in-district) and $179 (out-of-district). Prices do not include books.
