Islander wins the title of Miss Bay Area 2011
Erin Kay of Galveston will represent the Bay Area at the 2012 MISS TEXAS USA®
Houston: The 2011 Miss Bay Area and Miss Bay Area Teen pageants took place at the University Of Houston Clear Lake Bayou Theatre. Contestants competed for the crown and the coveted opportunity to represent the Bay Area title at the upcoming MISS TEXAS USA® and MISS TEXAS TEEN USA® pageants. The show was hosted by Nicole O’Brian, MISS TEXAS TEEN USA® 2000 and MISS TEXAS USA® 2003. Special guests included Thamer Kay Favor of Houston, former Miss Bay Area, and Raigan Harris of Pearland, former Miss Bay Area Teen.
Erin Michelle Kay of Galveston was crowned Miss Bay Area and will vie for the MISS TEXAS USA title September 5, 2011 at the Hilton-Americas Houston Hotel. She also took home the award for Most Photogenic. Runners up to the title included First Runner - up and Swimsuit Winner Kirstin Collier, Peyton Saverance was Second Runner - up and Evening Gown Winner, Kelli Harral placed Third Runner up and Krystal Malloy finished Fourth Runner - up.
A self-proclaimed “Islander by Choice,” Erin Kay calls Galveston Island home and is the Membership Development Director for the Galveston Chamber of Commerce. She is a founding member of the C-Crewe, a young professionals group created by the chamber to engage Galveston’s young business community. Additionally, Erin serves on the board of directors for Clean Galveston, a non-profit organization committed to keeping Galveston beautiful. She is a 2009 honor graduate of the University of Central Arkansas with a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration. Erin was a very active student-leader filling the roles of Vice President of Membership for her sorority, Event Chair of the Association of Future Alumni and President of 80 Proof, an organization committed to encouraging responsibility. She also participated on the Student Orientation Staff and co-founded an event designed to help freshmen with their transition to college.
The event has become an annual function at her alma mater. Madison Lee was chosen Miss Bay Area Teen and will go on to compete for MISS TEXAS TEEN USA, Thanksgiving weekend at the Hilton Houston Post Oak Hotel. Miss Bay Area Teen and Miss Bay Area will represent the Bay Area, in their respective state pageants, MISS TEXAS TEEN USA® or MISS TEXAS USA® 2011, produced by the Crystal Group which is part of the prestigious MISS USA®, MISS UNIVERSE® and MISS TEEN USA® pageant system owned in partnership by the Donald Trump Organization and NBC Enterprises.
