Clear Creek ISD Board of Trustees
by Garrett Bryce
Tuesday, July 26, 2011

The Clear Creek Independent School District Board of Trustees on Monday voted unanimously to approve the final reading of a policy change to allow the district to sell advertising on various items to help offset reductions in state funding to the school.

“This effort is supported by the public as indicated by the Citizens Finance Advisory Committee,” Superintendent Dr. Greg Smith said.  “This policy would permit the school district to sell advertising on the district's electronic communication, website, electronic newsletters, Veterans Memorial Stadium, and improve the bus advertising program.”

The school board voted to name Colleen Dale as dean of instruction for Clear Springs High School.  Dale most previously worked with Katy Independent School District.

The school board voted to name Jennifer Chiles as coordinator of Career and Technology Education.  Chiles already works with the district as assistant principal of Clear Creek High School.

The school board voted to publish a proposed 2011 tax rate of $1.04 per $100 property valuation for maintenance and operation and $0.32 per $100 valuation for debt payments.  The school board will hold a public hearing on August 29 regarding the tax rate.

The school board voted to approve the teacher salary schedule and stipends for the 2011-2012 school year.

“The proposed salary schedule for teachers has been adjusted by one year of experience and reflects the same rates as the 2010-11 school year,” Smith said.  “In order to maintain a step between teachers with no experience and teachers with one year of experience the beginning teacher pay was reduced by $200 for a starting salary of $44,600. This will only affect newly hired teachers to the district with no experience. Current employees will make the same rate as last year.”

All items were approved.  All votes were unanimous with Trustee Page Rander absent.  Agenda
