GALVESTON: George Mack Cokins, Sr. age 84 of Galveston passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Memorial Hermann Hospital Southwest in Houston. Funeral services are 10:00am Friday, July 29, 2011 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston. Burial will follow at Forest ParkEastCemetery in Webster. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 5:00pm until 8:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
George was born May 21, 1927 in Gainesville, Wisconsin. He was the owner and President of Cokins Enterprises and personally operated the Seaview Restaurant and the Pier Drive Inn on 25th and seawall for many years.
George was also a World War II veteran of the US Army.
Preceded in death by his parents, wife, Dovie Cokins siblings; Pete and Nick Cokins, Angella Ioannidis and a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Cokins; survivors include sons, George Mack Cokins, Jr., David D. Cokins and Ronald M. Cokins wife Leigh Ann; daughter, Yvonne Marie Cokins; sisters, Patsy Marinos; grandchildren, Ronald Cokins, Jr., Kristin Cokins, Gina Cokins, Cody Cokins and Hailey Cokins; numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are Ronald Cokins, Sr., Ronald Cokins, Jr., Mike Cokins, David Cokins, Cody Cokins and Richard Cokins. Honorary Pallbearer is Randy Spann.
