SUSPECT CHARGED IN MAY MURDER OF STORE CLERK

HOUSTON – Investigators with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Homicide Unit have filed a capital murder charge against 24-year-old Albert Lynch for the May killing of a store clerk in northwest Harris County.

On Monday, May 16, 2011 about 3:50 a.m., Lynch entered a convenience store located in the 15300 block of Ella Blvd. He wore a ski mask, dark blue coveralls and gloves. Lynch confronted the clerk, 20-year-old Salvador Maya, and shot him to death, according to investigators. The suspect took an undetermined amount of cash before fleeing on foot. The crime was caught on surveillance camera video (attached). Video

HCSO homicide investigators uncovered additional evidence that led to the charge.

Lynch has been in the Harris County Jail since May 27, 2011 on an unrelated charge.
