Reba Sapp
Fields-Johnson Family Mortuary

Reba SappGALVESTON- Mrs. Reba Sapp, 97, of Galveston, Texas passed away peacefully on Friday, July 22, 2011 at Houston Hospice in Houston, Texas.  She was born on May 20, 1914 to Sarah and Robert Washington in Kinnard, Texas.  During her youth, the family moved to Crockett, Texas; where she was educated, met and married her husband John B. Sapp of 54 years, who preceded her in death.  This union produced five children. Her oldest son, Sion Sapp also preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish memories two sons: Dr. John B. Sapp, Jr. (Simin), Allen Sapp (Carolyn); two daughters: Barbara Sapp-Davis, Brenda Sapp- Jefferson (Dewey); one step-daughter: Johnnie Mae White (Harold); ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. She also leaves to mourn, special friends: Mrs. Ossie Stoneham, Mrs. Joann Randall, Mrs. Willie Mae Ambrose, Mrs. Verna Mae Thompson, Mr. George Biggers, Mrs. Lynn Sykes, Mr. Robert Ray Merchant, Mr. Leon Harris (NuNu) and Mrs. Gladys Gilford.

Mrs. Sapp was a proud member of the Greater Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Galveston, Texas for more than 60 year. She serving several terms as president of the Bible Band, member of the Ministers, Deacon, & Trustees Wives, treasurer of the adult choir, active member of Mission # 1, and served on the kitchen ministry for many years. She was a member of the West End Federated Club, and founder/president of the Widows Charity Club.

The family of Mrs. Sapp extends special thanks to caring and professional caregivers- Mrs. Kathy Lewis, Mrs. Regina Smith, and Mrs. Freda Burton of Bryant Burton Home Healthcare.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2011, at the Greater Mount Calvary Baptist Church, (5202 Avenue K) with Pastor Timothy L. Allen officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am; followed by funeral services at 1:00 PM. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Galveston, TX.
