The “Texas Salute to Military Service” Summer Fashion Show on July, 8, 2011, at Landry’s Seafood Restaurant in Kemah, Texas, was a wonderful success!
This special and patriotic event, honoring the Texas military, raised funds for the “Texas Salute to Military Service” Appreciation week-end in Kemah, Texas, on November 4 - 6, 2011. The funds will provide up to 100 Texas wounded military service men, women and dependent children a weekend of fun and relaxation at the Kemah Boardwalk.
The local models who strolled and strutted down the runway wearing fun and fabulous fashions were Jesenia Alvarez, Kareena Antony, Silda Como, Daniel Curran, Liza Elliot, Deborah Ensulo, Zzamantha Esparaza, Nicholas Garcia, Victoria Garcia, Ashley Haas, Michele Haas, Kristi Hill, Jordan Lenamon, Michelle Lincoln, Hannah Lozano, Logan Lozano, Richard Lozano, Irvin Martinez, Mark Nguyen, Gracie Momper, Makaylee Momper, Megan O’Neil, Ashlyn Otero, Mariana Otero, Pat Patton, Kennedy Porter, Gina Rizzo, Marcy Taylor, Sydney Treadway, and Kelly Williams.
The military escorts were: U.S. Army - Harold L. Brent, COL US ARMY, Leonard Bravo, SSGT US ARMY, Victoria Calderon, SSGT US ARMY, Tammie Harris, SPC US ARMY, and Scott Wolfe, SGT US ARMY; U.S. Marine Corps - Donny Daughenbaugh, CPL USMC, and Scott Momper, SGT USMC; U.S. Navy - Linda Galarza, US NAVY; U.S. Air Force - Chris Boyd, SSGT US AIR FORCE, and Jake Wheeler, SSGT US AIR FORCE; U.S. Coast Guard - Brian Lincoln, CMDR USCG, Julie Miller, LTJG USCG and Michael Zidik, CMDR USCG.
The fun and fabulous fashions were provided by Blayne’s, Divine Diva, Old Tyme Photos, The Pink Rose by Scarlett, Surf’s Up, and Unzipped Denim Bar. The hair and make up were provided by Ruby Garcia - Devine Pleasures Hair Salon, and Dee Medlin - Mary Kay Cosmetics.
Two touching events of the evening were five year old Ashlyn Otero saying the Pledge of Allegiance and singing “America the Beautiful”, and the POW /Missing Man presentation by John “Spike” Garcia.
Gail Payne did a wonderful job narrating the Fashion Show. Claudio Sereni brought his own special brand of magic to entertain the crowd, and Krystal Starr did a beautiful rendition of “Thank you from America”.
The main sponsor for the second year in a row for the Texas Salute to Military Service Summer Fashion Show was Landry’s Seafood - Kemah Board. The event Fashion Show Chairperson was Josie Nelson, the Master of Ceremonies was John “Spike” Garcia, and the Auctioneer was Lance Stephens. The Military Escort Co-Chairs were John “Spike” Garcia and Scott Pompe, the Program Chair was Elbby Antony, the Auction Committee Chair was Pat Partridge and the Decorations Committee Chair was Nancy Pell.
The speakers were Mayor Bob Cummings – City of Kemah, Eric Hitchcock – Texas Salute to Military Service, Mark Kane – General Manager of the Kemah Boardwalk, Scott Momper – National Speaker, and Veterans Advocate with Warriors for Freedom and Folds of Honor, and Cris Treadway, Executive Director - Girlfriends in Arms (a support group for military wives).
