The Galveston College Board of Regents, in a special meeting on Thursday, voted 7-1, with Dr. Greg Roof opposed, to opt-out of a split payment plan offered through Galveston County for property taxes.
The payment plan would allow property owners to make two payments on their local property taxes. However, Galveston College will continue to receive taxes in one payment due to opting out of the program.
The college board also met in workshop to discuss the college’s proposed budget for 2011-2012.
No other action items were on the agenda. All members of the board were present at the meeting. However, Dr. Paul Cunningham left the meeting before the vote on the split payment option. Agenda
