SJC cosmetology students give free haircuts at back-to-school fair
Five-year-old Sid Betancourt of Pasadena recently received his haircut for the upcoming school year by San Jacinto College (SJC) cosmetology student, Mia Ahmad. Ahmad was a part of a group of SJC students who volunteered at the 2011 Back-to-School Health Fair at Christian Temple Church in Houston.
Each year, cosmetology students from SJC Central are invited to donate their time at the event in helping to prepare students for their upcoming academic year. Surrounding organizations like the Houston Police Department, Lens Crafters, and MD Anderson Hospital also participate in the fair.
