Beaumont Mayor officially designates August 19th as “Judds Day”
Beaumont to honor iconic country duo during concert tour stop at Nutty Jerry’s
Winnie, TX – Beaumont Mayor Becky Ames has officially designated Friday, August 19th 2011 as “Judds Day” in Beaumont TX.
“We are excited and honored that The Judds have chosen Southeast Texas as the only scheduled Texas date on their Last Encore tour” said Mayor Ames. “I look forward to giving them a big Texas welcome at Nutty Jerry's Entertainment Complex in Winnie, presenting them with a key to the city, and proclaiming Friday, August 19, 2011, as ‘The Judds Day’ in the City of Beaumont.”
“I am proud to have the Mayor of Beaumont honor The Judds with an official day, just as I am proud to be hosting The Judds on their final farewell tour,” said Jerry Nelson, owner of Nutty Jerry’s. “The Judds are one of the most beloved acts in country music, and an official Judds Day could not be more fitting. This is going to be a great day.”
“It’s such an honor for us to be welcomed with such open arms by the city of Beaumont,” said Naomi Judd. “I always say that if I hadn’t been born in Kentucky, I’d definitely be from Texas. Texans are my kind of people,” shared Judd.
The Judds are now on their final “victory lap” with The Last Encore tour. The Judds have selected Nutty Jerry’s in Winnie TX as their only scheduled Texas date on their final tour. This will be the last time for fans to hear the magic of Naomi and Wynonna. Most recently, they completed a 6-episode television series on OWN (The Oprah Winfrey Network) documenting their first and final tour in ten years.
The Judds will perform at Nutty Jerry’s on Friday, August 19th. Nutty Jerry’s is a multi-purpose entertainment facility and Steakhouse located at 18291 Englin Road in Winnie TX. For more information call Nutty Jerry’s at (877) 643-7508.
The Judds, Wynonna and Naomi, are one of the most successful and iconic acts in country music history. Between 1984 and 1991, they achieved 14 number one hits at country radio and won more than 60 industry awards, including five Grammys, nine CMA Awards and eight ACM Awards. With over 20 million albums sold to date, The Judds remain one of the nation's top concert draws.
