The Friendswood Independent School District Board of Trustees on Monday voted unanimously to approve the construction of a parking lot at Centennial Park near Friendswood Junior High at a cost not to exceed $194,274.

The contract was awarded to D&J Construction, which submitted the low bid on the project.

The school board voted unanimously to accept the Galveston County Appraisal District and Brazoria County Appraisal District certified property values for 2011.

The district’s Galveston appraisal has a net taxable value of $2,081,630,085, and Brazoria County an appraised value of $1,368,230, reflecting a 1.5 percent increase from the 2010 adjusted values overall.

The district levies taxes on a total of six properties within Brazoria County.

The school board took no action regarding the endorsement of candidates to fill positions on the Texas Association of School Boards.

The school board voted unanimously to being charging for reserved parking at home games of the district’s varsity football team.

Reserved parking will be sold at $25 per spot for the season’s five home games.

The school board voted 5-0-1, with Ralph Hobratschk abstaining, to approve the minutes of the July 18 meeting.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote.  Trustee Robert McCabe was absent.  Agenda
