Galveston to Give Ticketed Motorists the Boot
City Officials Encouraging Motorists to Address Parking Citations

Galveston, Texas – Starting next week, motorists who fail to resolve parking citations could get the boot from the City of Galveston.  Vehicles that have accumulated three (3) or more unresolved parking citations since June 1, 2006, have been placed on the delinquent vehicle list.  Letters will be mailed to motorists in jeopardy of having their vehicle booted.

Under city code, parking offenses are considered civil offenses and enforcement measures include additional fines as well as the booting and towing of motor vehicles.  A law enforcement officer may boot any vehicle on the delinquent vehicle list found parked, lawfully or unlawfully, upon a street or highway within the city, or upon any other city-owned or –controlled property.

Vehicles that are booted are subject to additional fines including:

  • Administrative Fee of $100

  • Boot Fee of $100

  • Towing/Storage Related Fees

Galveston officials are encouraging motorists to address their parking citations.  To resolve any outstanding parking citations or verify ticket balances, please contact the City of Galveston’s Municipal Court by calling 409-765-3740.  The public can visit the Galveston Municipal Court, located at 601 54th Street, Suite 300, 8AM – 5PM Monday through Friday.

The public can pay by cashier's check, money order, credit card, or cash (in person only).  Credit card payments can be made in person or by calling 1-800-530-8084.  Drivers must know their full balance to be processed by the credit card system.  A convenience fee will be charged for credit card payments made by phone.
