Dr. Paul Szuch honored by Career and Technology Association of Texas
BEAUMONT – Dr. Paul Szuch is the recipient of a Career and Technology Association of Texas (CTAT) Outstanding Service to Career and Technical Education (CTE) Award.
CTAT membership consists of secondary and postsecondary CTE administrators, counselors and regional education service center CTE specialists. Dr. Szuch received this award at the CTAT Awards Luncheon on July 19 at the Sheraton Hotel in Dallas.
This award is presented to individuals who have provided significant support for high school CTE programs in their areas.
Since his arrival in 2006, Dr. Szuch has focuses upon enhancing student success, teaching excellence, and community and civic engagement for LIT students, faculty and staff. He has established numerous CTE articulation and co-enrollment agreements with Southeast Texas school districts.
Dr. Szuch instituted a program to hire qualified high school CTE teachers as nonpaid adjunct instructors to provide college credit in LIT technical courses at no cost to the school district or the students. He has issued an open invitation to all area school districts to utilize LIT training facilities, conference rooms and professional development services.
Dr. Szuch played a key role in developing the Leadership Southeast Texas Youth Leadership Program (Y-LSET). LIT hosted Y-LSET Day attended by high school students from a 10-county area. This program emphasized leadership and teambuilding skills, career planning, and service to community.
In the short period of time Dr. Szuch has been at LIT, he has made a profound impact on CTE students, teachers and administrators in Southeast Texas.
