Dickinson ISD Board of Trustees
by Garrett Bryce
Tuesday, August 16, 2011

The Dickinson Independent School District Board of Trustees on Monday voted 6-1, with Linda Butler opposed, to adopt  the district’s 2011-2012 Budget, which includes projected operating expenditures of $62,067,883.

The budget reflects a reduction of $4.3 million in spending compared to the 2010 budget.

The school board voted unanimously to adopt a 2011 tax rate of $1.54 per $100 valuation.  The rate is the same as 2010, and designates $1.04 of the tax rate for maintenance and operation and $0.54 for payments on the district’s bond indebtedness.

Public hearings were held prior to the approval of the budget and adoption of the tax rate.  No comments were received from the public during the hearings.

The school board voted 5-2, with Butler and Patty Halter opposed, to approve the Personnel Compensation Plan for 2011-2012.

The school board discussed, but took no action regarding recent training, updates regarding the Gulf Coast School Board Association and potential items.

The school board also discussed the board’s agenda format.  No action was taken on the item.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote.  All members were present.  Agenda
