ACC and TSTC Industrial Electrical Technology Program Begins Aug. 22

Alvin Community College, in partnership with Texas State Technical College will offer a new session of the Industrial Electrical Technician and Programmable Logic Control (IET/PLC) Fast Track Certificate program beginning Aug. 22 at the ACC Pearland Center.

In the IET/PLC program students will learn the skills needed to trouble-shoot and repair control devices and other electronic equipment used in a broad range of industries. This fast-tracked program allows for students to earn a certificate within four to five months.

In the industrial technology lab at the ACC Pearland Center, students will have the opportunity to work hands-on with state-of-the-industry tools while learning the skills needed to successfully maintain the latest equipment.

“Graduates begin their careers as assistants to experienced electricians,” says Chuck Abshier, Texas State Technical College division director. “The IET/PLC certificate program will also help seasoned electricians to validate their existing skills, catch-up on newer technology and prepare them to assume supervisory positions. “

The 158-hour program consists of a series of seven courses that will run consecutively from August 22, 2011 through February 22, 2012. The classes will meet on Monday through Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The tuition for the certification is $3,720 and can be paid for all at once or class by class. Financial aid is available to those who qualify.
