Board of Trustees of the Galveston Wharves
by Jim Guidry
Thursday, August 18, 2011

The Board of Trustees of the Galveston Wharves on Wednesday met in executive session to discuss allegations that a former member of the wharves board held an undisclosed interest in a parking lot that competed with the port’s cruise terminal parking lots, while he was a trustee, and has referred the issue to Galveston County Criminal District Attorney Jack Roady.

Wharves Board Chair Roland Bassett did not name the former trustee in a brief interview with Guidry News Service.  Listen: MP3  RealPlayer

However, ILA Local 20 President Ted O’Rourke, who brought the matter to the wharves board’s attention, did name the former trustee, Don Suderman, and also provided documentation that he said he has presented to the district attorney.  Documents

Wednesday’s meeting was a special meeting.  The wharves board will meet in regular session on Monday.
