The Texas City Independent School District Board of Trustees on Tuesday voted to purchase a 10.2 acre tract of land.
The land is located in the Daniel L. Richardson Survey area of the district. The land was purchased from BHD Land, Inc. No specific plans for the property have been made by the district.
The school board voted unanimously to approve a contract with Specialized Assessment & Consulting, LLC for contracted bilingual special education evaluation and psych services.
The school board voted unanimously to renew the district’s participation in the Texas Association of School Boards Unemployment Compensation Plan.
The school board discussed, but took no action regarding the hiring of professional personnel and other personnel matters. The items were discussed in executive session.
During the meeting, the school board reviewed proposed redistricting options. The district is required to alter its single-member district boundaries due to changes in the population as reflected by the 2010 census. The board took no formal action, but directed staff to bring back the proposals in September for further consideration.

The school board will hold a special meeting on August 30 to adopt the district’s FY2011 budget.
