Lewis Jammer, Jr.
Fields-Johnson Family Mortuary

Lewis Jammer, Jr.Lewis Jammer, Jr., departed this life on Saturday August 20, 2011 at UTMB Hospital.

On September 28, 1929, in Brazoria County, Texas, a son was born to Lewis and Irene Ellis Jammer, whom they named Lewis Jammer, Jr.. He was the third, out of nine children born to this union. He confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Zion Temple A.M. E. Church. He united in holy matrimony to the late Gladys Mae Johnson. To this union no children were born, but took on the responsibly of raising his stepson and step granddaughter and her children as his own.

Lewis moved to Galveston and joined the Wesley Tabernacle United Methodist Church and remained a devoted member until his death. He served the church as its treasurer, and also with the United Methodist Men, in the Senior Choir and on the Trustee Board. He was also employed as longshoreman with I.L.A. Local 329 for over 40 years.

He leaves cherish memories of his life, sisters, Angie (Lenord) Banks, Maria (Emmitt ) Williams and Herma Tolbert; brothers, Samuel (Jessie Mae ), and Earnest Jammer; sister-in-law, Thelma Jammer; longtime companion, Elsie Hill and family; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends

Viewing will begin at 5PM on today, August 26th followed by a wake from 7-8 PM at Fields-Johnson Family Mortuary. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2011, at 11:00am at Wesley Tabernacle United Methodist Church with Pastor Steffon Arrington officiating. Burial will follow at Mims Cemetery in Brazoria, Texas.
