Water Pressure Restored at More HISD Schools
Impacted by Leaks in City Water System
Water pressure has been restored at the following campuses: Madison and Carnegie Vanguard High School, Attucks Middle School and Law, Caldwell, Travis and Mading elementary schools.
Only three schools continue to be affected by low water pressure: Sterling High School, Thomas Middle School and Frost Elementary School. This is a result of the City of Houston’s water leaks in the area.
Classes continue as usual in these campuses without any interruptions. HISD has provided bottled drinking water to these schools and delivered portable toilets, as needed, to each location. Some schools have reported functional toilets, despite the low water pressure. HISD officials are closely monitoring the air-conditioning in all schools and have dispatched waters tankers where needed to supply the cooling towers.
HISD officials continue to work closely with the City of Houston to restore water pressure at the remaining schools.
If the situation worsens, HISD is putting together a plan of action to relocate those students affected to nearby schools to ensure their safety and comfort. Any such actions would be immediately communicated to parents by phone.
