by Garrett Bryce
Friday, August 26, 2011

The Santa Fe Independent School District Board of Trustees, in a special meeting on Thursday, voted unanimously to adopt the 2011 Tax Rate of $1.4950 per $100 valuation.

The tax rate consists of a $1.04 per $100 valuation designation for maintenance and operations of the district, and $0.455 designated for payments on the district's bonded indebtedness.  The rate reflects an increase over the 2010 Tax Rate of $1.4192 per $100 valuation.  The increase was in the school's tax rate for debt payments, which was $0.3792 in 2010.

The school board voted unanimously to adopt the district's 2011-2012 budget.

A public hearing was held prior to approval of the tax rate and budget.

The school board took no action regarding amendments to the district's policy on extended leave. The item was pulled from the agenda for further study.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present.  Agenda
