Rachel’s Challenge Brings Message of Kindness to Students and Community
LEAGUE CITY, Texas – AMOCO Federal Credit Union, along with the Galveston County Sheriff’s Department and BP Texas City, are bringing Rachel’s Challenge – a message of kindness and compassion – to students and communities in Galveston County, beginning September 1, 2011.
The Rachel’s Challenge tour includes student/teacher assemblies held on campus followed by a community-wide evening event open to all students, parents, and businesses in the community. The program is devoted to prevent violence and bullying by engaging youth and adults to spread acts of kindness and compassion.
AMOCO Federal Credit Union, Galveston County Sheriff’s Department and BP Texas City are proud to sponsor this powerful program for 12 schools and communities in Galveston County. If you would like to help us extend this program school district by school district throughout all K-12 schools in Galveston County, please consider sponsoring a school near you or making a monetary contribution to the Rachel’s Challenge Galveston Community Activation Fund. We invite you to attend a Rachel’s Challenge community-wide event near you. La Marque Middle School will kick off the Rachel’s Challenge tour on Thursday, September 1, 2011. News Media Representatives are welcome to attend the Rachel’s Challenge program at any of the participating schools. If interested, they should contact the school directly for media access.
Additional tour dates and locations are as follows: September 7 at Clear Falls High School; September 13 at Santa Fe High School; September 14 at Dickinson High School; September 15 at Clear Creek Intermediate; September 16 at Seabrook Intermediate; and October 5 at Clear View Education Center. Other schools that have signed up to participate with dates to be determined are: Texas City High School, High Island High School, La Marque High School, Hitchcock High School, and Clear Lake High School.
