Bids were opened by City of Galveston Purchasing Manager Kevin Scott on Friday. The bid by the Port of Galveston was $3,001,012.42 and the bid by Mitchell was $1,750,000.
“At this time we are going over all the bid specifications before taking the item to the city council for the award,” said City of Galveston Public Information Officer Alicia Cahill.
Mitchell, who is developing the Downtown Transportation Terminal as part of the Livable Communities Initiative, had hoped to use the adjacent Shearn Moody Plaza Parking Garage as part of the project.
