Houston police are investigating the shooting of a man at 6723 South Loop East about 9:45 p.m. on Sunday (Aug. 28). 

The victim, Roberto Martinez, 19, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition. 

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. R. Elsbury and Officer Senior Police Officer R. P. Martinez reported: 

Mr. Martinez was visiting with a friend in the parking lot of an apartment complex at the above location when an unknown suspect fired a weapon from inside a tan 2000 to 2002 four-door Ford sports-utility vehicle.  Martinez was struck in the chest and transported to the hospital.
