Houston Fire Department Responds to Major Apartment Fire in Aldine

 

The Houston Fire Department was dispatched to an apartment fire in the 17700 block of Wayforest Drive off Greens Road in Aldine about 4:45 p.m. today, August 30, 2011. Firefighters arrived on scene to assist the Aldine Volunteer Fire Department within six minutes. A second alarm was called on the fire at 5 p.m. and the fire was tapped out just after 6:30 p.m. Approximately 80 firefighters from HFD responded to the incident which damaged 24 apartment units. The Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department also provided assistance. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced families. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
