The La Marque Independent School District Board of Trustees on Tuesday voted unanimously to adopt the 2011 tax rate at $1.24 per $100 valuation.

The rate remains unchanged from 2010, with $1.04 per $100 valuation designated for maintenance and operations and $0.20 for payment on the district’s bonds.

The school board voted 4-2, with Shirley Fanuiel and Nakisha Paul opposed, to adopt the 2011-2012 budget.  Budget Summary

Trustee Joe Cantu was not present at the time of the vote.

The school board voted 5-1-1, with Fanuiel opposed and Cynthia Bell-Malveaux abstaining, to renew a contract with Durham School Services for transportation services.

The school board voted 6-1, with Fanuiel opposed, to approve the Government Accounting Standards Board 54 Resolution.  The resolution requires the commitment of a portion of the district's fund balance for specific purposes.

The school board voted 6-1, with Fanuiel opposed, to approve amendments to the 2010-2011 budget.

The school board voted unanimously to obtain an outside mediator relating to a Level III Grievance.  The item was discussed during an executive session.
