Phyllis Shankle-Bennett

Phyllis Shankle-BennettPhyllis Shankle-Bennett was born Dec. 9, 1955, to Willie and Esther Crockett Shankle in Galveston, TX, and went to be with the Lord on Monday Sept. 5, 2011. Phyllis confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of Silverlake Church, Pearland, TX. She was retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Esther Shankle and brother, James Kelly.

She leaves to mourn a loving husband, Chester Bennett, and three children, Alisha (Clyde) Rawlins of Pearland, TX, Xavier (Brittany) Bennett of Houston, TX, and Brandy Wooten of Dickinson, TX. She also leaves her father, Willie (Frances) Shankle, Sr. of Galveston, TX, four brothers, Willie (Melinda) Shankle, Jr. of Houston, TX, Bruce (Dorothy) Shankle of League City, TX, and Jeffery and Patrick Moore of Galveston, TX.  She leaves three grandchildren, Alexandria and Skylar Rawlins, Xavier Bennett II, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Viewing will begin 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, followed by a service celebrating her life at 10:00 a.m. at the Silverlake Church, 1865 Cullen Parkway, Pearland, TX, with Pastor Reginald DeVaughn officiating. Burial will follow at Withers Cemetery in Fairview, TX.
