Girls on the Run Registration this Weekend in Galveston
Program Prepares 3rd-5th Grade Girls for a Lifetime of Self-Respect & Healthy Living!
Galveston , Texas – The Junior League of Galveston County, Inc. invites girls currently enrolled in third – fifth grades, who live in Galveston County communities, to come to the Girls on the Run® program registration events this weekend.
Girls on the Run® is a life-changing, experiential learning program for girls in Galveston County . The program combines training for a 3.1 mile running event with self-esteem enhancing, uplifting workouts. The overall goal of the program is to encourage positive emotional, social, mental, spiritual and physical development in pre-teen girls.
Galveston County Girls on the Run Weekend Registration Events:
Saturday, September 10
10AM – 12PM
Sunday, September 11
1:30PM – 3PM
Both registration events will be held at Fit 2 Run, 528 23rd Street , located in downtown Galveston. Online registration is also available by visiting: https://www.active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=1984555.
This is 10-week afterschool program starts Monday, September 12. Girls will be required to participate in program activities at 4:30PM – 5:45PM every Monday and Wednesday at the Galveston Early College High School campus located at 4116 Avenue N ½ on Galveston Island . Girls on the Run® is a 501(c)3 positive youth development program which combines an interactive curriculum and running to inspire self-respect and healthy lifestyles in pre-teen girls. The program's core curriculum addresses many aspects of girls’ development - their physical, emotional, mental and social well-being. Lessons provide girls with the tools to make positive decisions and to avoid risky adolescent behaviors.
