“Work is Necessary to Replace the Aging Bridge”
(Houston) – The Texas Department of Transportation has closed the Loop 404 Bridge in Montgomery County at White Oak Creek through November 1. The bridge, which was closed earlier this week, will be closed for 60 days to allow crews to reconstruct the bridge that was originally built in 1948.
The bridge will be demolished and reconstructed at full width and motorists will have to take an alternate route:
· Motorists traveling northbound on Loop 494 will be detoured to FM 1314 westbound then to US 59 northbound then to FM 1485 eastbound and back to Loop 494.
· Motorists traveling southbound on Loop 494 will be detoured to FM 1485 westbound then to US59 southbound then to FM 1314 eastbound and back to Loop 494.
· Local traffic will have access past the detour points at all times.
The bridge is being constructed by Lone Star Construction at a cost of $749,767 (Correct). To ensure on-time completion the contract includes incentives for early completion and disincentives for delayed completion.
