Douglas Wayne (Slim) Young, 56, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 7, 2011. Douglas was born to the union of Johnnie and Gloria Savoy Young on March 31, 1955 in Galveston, Texas. He attended Galveston Public Schools. He traveled with the Barnum and Bailey Circus, worked for the City of Galveston and at UTMB before moving to Houston, TX; where he lived for many years working on various jobs.
He was preceded in death by his mother, sister, Sandra; aunt, and great-nephew.
He is survived by his father: Johnnie. (Irene) Young, Jr.; brothers: Johnnie “Bo” (Shobon) Young III of Houston, TX , Johnny Y. Harris of London, England; sisters: Lillian Teresa Young of Galveston, TX, Louise Miller of Alexandria, LA, step-sister, Lannita Robinson of Oakland, CA; aunts: Jeanette Howard of Beaumont, TX, Joyce Gadbeury of CA; special friends: Billy Franklin, Charmell Potts, Sandra McNeal; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will begin at 12:30PM on Monday, September 12, 2011, followed by home going services at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Fields- Johnson Family Mortuary, with Rev. E. R. Johnson officiating
