Annual city-wide pep rally introduces 2011-2012 district athletic and spirit teams
on Wednesday, Sept. 14

GALVESTON, Texas – Galveston Independent School District celebrates the start of a new school year at Kermit Courville Stadium with its annual city-wide pep rally on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 6:30 p.m. The rally commemorates the district's student athletes and organizations. The community is invited to attend this free event.

“This is a wonderful annual tradition that brings together not just Ball High, but all the schools in Galveston as well as community members,” said Lisa Schweitzer, Student Council sponsor at Ball High. “This rally is used to give recognition to all our hard working teams, clubs and spirit organizations at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels. It’s also a great way to get the football team pumped for their home game with Lamar Consolidated on Friday, Sept. 16.”

Besides GISD athletic teams and organizations, local sponsors and community leaders are invited to attend. Kermit Courville stadium is located on 27th Street between Ave N and Ave N 1/2. Organizers encourage each school in GISD to send their clubs and athletic teams to participate. Staff members and their families are also encouraged to join in the festivities.
