Friendswood ISD Board of Trustees
by Garrett Bryce
Tuesday, September 13, 2011

The Friendswood Independent School District Board of Trustees on Monday voted unanimously to appoint trustees Matt Robinson and Robert McCabe to serve as legislative liaisons.

“As the state continues to struggle with school funding, it would be advantageous for FISD if board members were actively engaged with our elected officials,” Superintendent Trish Hanks said.

The school board also unanimously appointed trustees Tony Hopkins and David Montz to serve on the Community Budget Advisory Committee.

The school board voted unanimously to table action regarding three items involving the use of bond funds. The three action items included:

  • Additions/renovations to the Friendswood High School Auditorium entrance
  • Construction of a canopy at the high school
  • Construction of a canopy at Friendswood Junior High.

The items were tabled in order to allow staff members to meet and agree on what is necessary for the projects and the costs associated with each project.

The projects would be funded from bond funds that had been set aside for the construction of the Early Childhood Center.

The school board voted unanimously to confer with Bay Architects and Braeburn Construction regarding renovations to the Westwood Elementary entrance and office area.

The school board voted unanimously to approve updates to the District Student Code of Conduct.

The changes are required by bills passed during the state’s 82 Legislative Session.  Code of Conduct Changes

All other items were approved by unanimous vote.  Trustee Ralph Hobratschk was not present at the meeting.  Agenda
