Frederick Reuel Pierson

Frederick Reuel PiersonFrederick Reuel Pierson, 80, a beloved father, grandfather & great grandfather, passed away in Hitchcock, Texas on September 16,2011.


Frederick was born in Galveston on November 19, 1930 to Randolph and Alvina Pierson. His mother and grandparents survived the great 1900 storm in Galveston. He served his country for twenty years as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Air Force as an instructor and navigator.  He was a true patriot who loved his country and served with honor.  While in the Air Force, Frederick graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and in 1952 he married Betty Lou Norris. After leaving the military, he worked as a teacher for underprivileged children and as an administrator for a health clinic. He will always be remembered for his strong work ethic. 


He had a great love of travel, enjoyed playing golf, and was a member of the Freemasons. He also enjoyed physical fitness and spending time with his family and beloved dogs. Frederick was a remarkable man who touched the lives of many and will be remembered as a man of principle to all those who knew him.


A Memorial Service will be held at Malloy & Son Funeral Home on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 2:00 pm with Fr. E. J. Stein, officiating. Online condolences may be made in Frederick’s honor at   


Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gloria Pierson; brother, Paul Pierson and wife, Jane; sons, Michael Pierson and wife, Jacqueline; Lee Pierson, and Donald Pierson; granddaughters, Tonya Allen and Teresa Vick; grandson, Frederick Reuel Pierson III, and wife, Robin; great grandsons Ryan, Taylor, Gavin and Kolby; great granddaughters Riley, Trinity and Journee, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.


Frederick was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Randolph; his sister, Margaret; his daughter, Debra; and son, Frederick, Jr.


The family wishes to thank Hallmark Hospice and Seasons Personal Care Home of Hitchcock for the loving care they provided to Frederick during his illness.  Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Houston & Southeast Texas Chapter, 2242 W. Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX 77030-2008.
