The Galveston Maritime Club met on Tuesday, September 20th at Landry’s on the Seawall. Rear Admiral William W. Pickavance, Jr. USN (Ret.), the Superintendent of the Texas Maritime Academy at Texas A&M at Galveston was the guest speaker.
Admiral Pickavance was also on hand to participate in the award of the Captain Karl P. Fanning Memorial Scholarship Fund to four A&M Students. Recipients for the 2011 academic scholarships were presented by Judy Fanning to Anna Hogan, Roberto Elizondo, Shelby David and Eric Schmidt.
The Galveston Maritime Club meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month (except during the summer months) and welcomes interested parties to join our cause in supporting the Seafarer’s Center and students at Texas A&M.
